HEY THERE!
It’s been A LONG time since we last met but now I revised my blog and with more experience and knowledge than ever, you’ll be so happy that you won’t mind the wait.
So we talked about how much I dislike salt (you might as well shoot yourself to dead - its less painful) but I really want to zero in on dressing this time; healthy, salt-free and crap free.
When we are about to make a dressing for something (it doesn’t matter what) your most important thing is….a blender!
You’d be surprised, but if you want to eat the cake and not get fat you need a blender!
Going back to dressing, we won’t have time to talk about all the dressings so this time we’re going to talk about salad dressing (green salad, not pasta salad) but because I like you I’m going to give you a dressing to make the best baked root veggies.
I’m going to keep it short this time and just give you some recipes to try for yourself.
You know why you don’t want to add crap (Carbohydrate Refined sugar Alcohol Process) and salt to your food so what should you add? How about some superfood??? It’s not just not bad to you - it’s GOOD for you! Your body needs it, especially if you’re trying to lose weight.
Here are some of the things you can choose from:
Olive oil: One of the best food sources for vitamins E and K. Known to decrease the cholesterol levels in the blood. Oleic acid, which is a component of olive oil, has a natural property of reducing the effect of oncogene. This is a cancer-inducing gene in the human body. Consumption of fats can increase the risks of cancer; however, olive oil can actually protect your body from carcinogens. Recommend by doctors for people with diabetes .
Apple cider vinegar: from all the vinegar out there apple cider is THE BEST for you. With evidence that Hippocrates himself used it to heal people to you really need me to add?
Honey: the key here is the amount. It is sugar so don’t overdo it. Honey helps you to reduce ulcers and gastrointestinal disorders, increase your athletic performance and help to protect from cancer, heart disease and it Anti-bacterial.
Fresh Herbs: basil, mint, parsley, cilantro, oregano, rosemary, thyme, ginger, turmeric, onion, garlic etc. (Go for green stuff).
Fruits: lime, lemon, citrus peel, berries, avocado.
All of these things are good for you and you can make healthy beautiful dressings with them so here, like I promised, a few ideas:
Baked root veggies:
Pre-heat the oven to 475F. Cut the veggies into small cubes and spread on the pan.
In a blender half cup lemon juice and half cup olive oil. Fill the blender almost to the top with your choice of fresh herbs (I put parsley, mint and basil) and blend until smooth. Cover the veggies and bake for an hour or until brown.
Enjoy J
The next recipe I didn’t try but my friend loved it! If you have to have ranch dressing how about you make it a healthy one?
